Looking for a phone with great features, great camera and doesn’t break the bank?  I offer you the Huawei P10 Plus.

Let see if the Huawei P10 plus brought it own flavor compared to its predecessor.

UnBoxing

The Huawei P10 Plus box is unapologetic minimalistic, I love the magnetic effect of the lid when you’re opening the box.  What’s inside?

Inside the box comes the Huawei P10 Plus, Plastic Case, USB Type-C cable, The Super-fast Charger, and Headset.

Design

The Huawei P10 is a fashionable, curved-screen, high-end smartphone built out from its aluminum uni-body with a bit of glass back panel for added spark, compared from its previous predecessor the Huawei P9, but somehow reminds me of an iPhone 7 aesthetic.

The front face of the device host the 5.5″ Screen 2K display, 8MP f1.9 Leica Selfie camera and a capacitive fingerprint scanner which is located at the bottom of the screen. I still get used to accessing my phone using the back fingerprint scanner from P9.

The back host the dual Leica camera, the dual tone flash and laser focus and the Huawei branding which were the fingerprint scanner used to be with the old P9. On top of the unit you can find built-in IR blaster, while the rear part has the USB type-C port, Stereo speaker grills, mic and 3.5mm audio jack.

Performance

Compared with Apple and Samsung, Huawei develops their own processor which is the Hisilicon Kirin 960.

The self-made Kirin 960 chipset occupies the flagships’ engine rooms

The machine learning algorithm learns how users use their phones while the Huawei Ultra Memory engine anticipates app usage and manages RAM memory so that the most-used apps and services load faster and stay available for multitasking. With 6GB RAM, the unit runs smoothly without lag and switching apps is just a breeze. Huawei also did some small tweaks, the EMUI 5.1 interface has improved touch response with a faster touch control driver, predictive touch tracking, and parallel graphics rendering. Storage is not an issue because the unit that I’m using has 128 GB built-in storage and upgradeable up to 256GB via microSD card.

Real-world performance was snappy and reliable and delivered everything you’d expect from a high-end smartphone. Battery performance is superb with its 3,750mAh that can last a day, plus a supercharger that can juice up the device 50% in just 30 mins.

Did you know that when watching a movie in horizontal view gives you access to the 2nd speaker which is located on the earpiece giving you stereo sound capability?

Interface

On top of the Android Nougat, Huawei put their own skin called the EMUI. A subtle and minimalistic skin that has plenty of customization to work with. Streamline and clean layout, an app drawer, a phone manager that helps you clean the unwanted cache and memory making your device run smoothly. Isn’t that neat?

Camera

This won’t be a Huawei P10 review without talking the camera. The camera package is the real highlight for the Huawei P series that pioneers the dual lens and sensor camera setups. The P9 last year really sets the bar high in terms of mobile photography when they co-engineered their camera technology with Leica. This year, they continued their partnership and presented the P10 Plus who gets a bump to Summilux-H lenses at f/1.8 aperture for even better low light performance and shallow depth of field photography.
